A Hafford man facing child pornography charges asked the court for an adjournment.
Kelly Beleznay, 55, appeared in person in Saskatoon Provincial Court Aug. 18 and said that he was approved by legal aid for a lawyer but hasn’t been assigned counsel yet.
Crown Prosecutor Aaron Martens told the court he is proceeding by indictable offence on both charges against Beleznay. Indictable offences are more serious and carry longer prison terms than summary convictions.
According to police, they received “many complaints” about a person accessing child pornography on the Internet. Saskatchewan ICE unit and Blaine Lake RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Hafford. They found child pornography and seized a laptop and USB storage devices for further forensic analysis and charged Beleznay with accessing and possessing child pornography.
Beleznay was released on bail in June.
He is now scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Aug. 25.
