The Raiders girls basketball team puts its trademark skill in motion on the court for the tournament this weekend.

Following Meridian Canadian Open

The women’s side of the Meridian Canadian Open, part of the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling, has been one to remember so far, with lots of close matches, unpredictable results and strong finishes.

A major figure skating event takes over the Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton the weekend of Feb. 8 and 9. Skate Yorkton will be hosting the Region 1 & 6 Invitational Competition, although the competitors are not limited to the local areas.

Sees event as Sask Tankard warm-up

The first match of the Meridian Canadian Open, part of the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling, began at the Gallagher Centre on the night of Jan. 14.

The Sacred Heart Senior Girls finished second place over the weekend at Marquis Lyle Severson Classic.

The Ken Newell curling team of Norquay, sponsored by Challoner Farm, won two big games in Kamsack on January 3 to capture the Duck Mountain Super League (DMSL) trophy, during the playoffs held at the Broda Sportsplex.

The Preeceville Pats Initiation (IP) hockey team hosted a seven-team tournament on December 15. Teams entered represented Preeceville, Kamsack (two teams), Yorkton (two teams), Norquay and Hudson Bay.

This week, Yorkton will have the eyes of the entire nation on them as Rogers Sportsnet, inarguably Canada’s largest and most successful sports network, televises the best curling athletes the country has to offer.
