With Labour Day now well in the rear view mirror the Canadian Football League heads into the homestretch of another season. Like most seasons on all sports, there have been ups and downs with the CFL in 2019.

Millstone Raceway was host to the Saskatchewan Motocross Championship Final. The event saw racers in a wide variety of classes take to the track to compete.

The Blue Owl is back. The men’s golf tournament at Deer Park Golf Course had not been played since 1993, and there has not been a men’s open at Deer Park for five years.

An annual event sponsored by the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) was held on July 20 at Jackfish Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.

It was race weekend at Yellowhead International Speedway, with cars in the Thunder Stock, Hobby Stock, Street Stock and 4A classes taking to the dirt oval to see who’s fastest.

The Lady Gridders are starting off their season with a smash. The Yorkton women’s football team has won both of their initial two games. Their most recent contest was against the Moosomin Generals.

It was The Amazing Dragon Boat Race at the Yorkton Canoe and Kayak Club, with racers taking part in different challenges to get an introduction to dragon boat racing, meet new people and have some fun.

The Friday Night Lights game sets the tone for the YRHS Raider Gridders. Playing under the lights to the enthusiastic home crowd, it’s a chance for the team to give it their all and show what they’re capable of at the start of the season.

Bolstered by team members from Canora, Preeceville and Kamsack, the Assiniboine Golden Aces co-ed slo-pitch team journeyed to Winnipeg for the Western Canadian Slo-pitch Championship on August 9 to 11 and came home with the gold medal.

Saskatchewan has its newest pro sport championship team. The Saskatchewan Rattlers surprised at least this fan by capturing the inaugural Canadian Elite Basketball League championship.
