The Yorkton Terriers have signed a goaltending prospect. Kennedy Cooper was the starting goalie for the Midget AAA team in Sherwood Park, last season.

The Yorkton Orioles competed in the 45-and-over Twilite Baseball Provincials on the weekend. The five-team event was hosted in Hudson Bay, with the Orioles ending up in the tournament final.

Young male and female basketball players from Canora and the surrounding area, aged 14 to 17, took advantage of the opportunity to attend the NBC (Nothing Beats Commitment) Basketball Camp at Canora Composite School from July 8 to 12.

The Red River Cup in Winnipeg wrapped up Wednesday with the two teams from Saskatchewan missing the gold medal game.

The Cardinals woes continued Thursday night, although it appeared to be going more Yorkton’s way earlier in the day with a 6-5 win. By the evening, however, the Millionaires were out for blood on their home turf.

For the most part I avoid watching all-star games. They have no meaning in terms of standings, are always populated with players that seem questionable based on current stats, and are played without the emotion that fires good sports entertainment.
