The Alexander's Menswear Yorkton Junior Cardinals picked up their season at home over the weekend in a place they hadn't been too familiar with since their last home date back on June 3 when they hosted the Yorkton Yankees.

The Gloria Hayden Community Centre's spring and summer hours of operation (May 17-Sept. 6) are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-12 noon, and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

The Yorkton Cardinals are coming off three losses at the hands of the western division teams. They return home to try and get back into the win column tomorrow night when they play the Edmonton Prospects in back to back games starting Thursday night.

The Yorkton Tennis Club has released its weekly schedule for 2010. All club activities will take place at the Western Development Museum courts. Play begins on Tuesday evenings with ladies play from 5-7 p.m.

Over 80 kids participated in something last week that they'll only get the chance to do only twice in their lifetime.

The 11th Annual Charity Golf Classic had an exceptionally strong year with a record $120,660 in pledges raised by the golfers. The funds will purchase equipment for 16 facilities in 13 local communities in Sunrise Health Region.

The Yorkton Cardinals took it on the chin during a three-game Western Major Baseball League road swing through Alberta on the weekend losing four games by a combined score of 40-9.

The Board of Directors are building a winning tradition while trying to find ways to operate in the black said club president Lyle Walsh.

The weekend didn't get off to the greatest start but the ending was good as thousands of people, both competitors and spectators took in the 2nd Annual Yorkton Dodge Chuckwagon Classic over the weekend.

The Parkland Racing Association was just getting all set for the start of the racing season, scheduled to get going this past Saturday at the Yellowhead International Speedway.
