Raider archers return to Worlds

During the week of May 3-7, the Yorkton Regional High School archery team took part in the first ever National Archery in the Schools Canadian Championship. The tournament was the first of its kind in the nation.

Tennis club

The Yorkton Tennis Club has released its weekly schedule for 2010. All club activities will take place at the Western Development Museum courts. Play begins on Tuesday evenings with ladies play from 5-7 p.m.

U12 Chelsea club heads to Swift Current

The Yorkton United U12 Chelsea soccer team traveled to Swift Current this past weekend May 28-30 to compete in a tournament. Yorkton dropped their first round robin game to Coaldale Thunder 6-1.

WMBL Cardinals

The season openers for the Yorkton Cardinals had been scheduled for this past Sunday but were cancelled and re-scheduled for last night at Jubilee Park. Results of the games were not available in time for press.

Bulldogs show feistiness in a strong home opener

The Yorkton Junior Bulldogs gave those in attendance a really good showing in the third period of their 2010 season opener of the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League home opener when the usually-powerful Moose Jaw Mustangs came to down Saturday.

GHCC hours

The Gloria Hayden Community Centre's spring and summer hours of operation (May 17-Sept. 6) are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-12 noon, and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

Local results from 55+ Seniors' games

Three events in the 55FA 55+ Games have been completed in the Parkland Valley Districts.In cribbage, which was held in Yorkton, there were 40 competitors. There is only one age category and that was 55+.

Bike safety

The Yorkton Active Transportation Collaborative partners with Safe Kids Canada for Bicycle Safety Awareness Week in Sask (May 31-June 5).
