With the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling being the big event in the city last week, it gave me an opportunity to reflect on why I enjoy curling. While I’ve never actually been any good at curling, I have always liked the sport.

The interest out here in who gets picked as the next Conservative Party of Canada leader goes beyond the obvious reason.

I just keep reminding myself with three simple words: “We were due.” “We were due” to have a pretty fierce cold snap at some point, not just in this area but across the province.

Last February, while temperatures plummeted for days on end, I was out of the country.

It is that time of the year where the world, at least our little part of it, seems to pause to take a deep breath. It might have something to do with the usual chilly temperatures of January.

If there is one thing I am rather confident in when I look toward the future of agriculture, it’s that producers will face more and more rules and regulations in terms of what they do on their own land.

Edgar Allen Poe wrote in The Purloined Letter : “The best place to hide is in plain sight.” Sadly, Saskatchewan’s municipal governments appear to be taking that to heart, and the province might just let them get away with it.

Playing cards was a focal point of cultural activity in my house as I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. It was such a known pastime that some high school kids in the area would play games such as Kaiser and Smear at noon hours.

I don’t understand why we have to pay for security detail for Harry and Meghan for their time in Canada if they’ve abdicated their responsibilities as Royals.
