It was good to see the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce take the opportunity last week to recognize two worthy individuals by bestowing life memberships.

The striped stray first visited us the week I painted our red shed. Thin and curious, it buried its face in the herb pot on the back deck, deeply inhaling the fragrance of rosemary and basil.

Before we get into today's issue of when it's appropriate to be bringing in foreign workers to Saskatchewan, consider this province's biggest controversy with new arrivals compared with that in Quebec.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders made news for all the wrong reasons last week as Dwight Anderson, Taj Smith, and Eron Riley were all charged with aggravated assault stemming from a fight outside a nightclub last month.

Dear Editor: I had the pleasure to meet a Yorkton family of Roughrider fans who rode the Winnipeg transit bus with us. They were a pleasure to meet. We did enjoy the visit.

It was one of those things that may have once seemed comical. Today, however, it serves as a reminder of how serious a problem drunk driving is in this province.

Dear Editor: Whether you are a die hard Liberal or a new member of this party, if you are honest you must shudder with shock if this great country of ours ever had the misfortune to have Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister.

There is a new video promoting Yorkton making its rounds on a special media site these days, and it is one which is getting mixed reviews to say the least. And the mixed reviews are warranted given that the video has both good and bad elements to it.
