When we look at what is important in terms of the future of our youth, education rates close to the top of the list. We are aware there is a correlation between the level of education and the standard of living we enjoy.

I had quite a heated exchange with one of my best friends over the holidays. Normally, he's almost as skeptical as I am, although probably a little more tolerant. Apparently I hit a sore point, though.

This might be a good time for Premier Brad Wall to think about the history of this province and the importance of Saskatchewan's rural roots - especially, its agriculture roots.

For a few years during our empty nest, I ignored my cake and cookie recipes, hoping to reduce calories and save time. When we became grandparents, I hauled some out again. Our four grandbeans live on the next block now.

One thing that never seems to get enough attention is white-collar crime. Canada has an international reputation for being a safe haven for would-be white-collar criminals.

I read last week's editorial by Thom Barker on harsh sentences for criminals with great interest. Naturally, if you read my column even semi-regularly you won't be surprised to hear I couldn't disagree with him more.

Last year ended on a sad note, with the accidental drowning death of Rebecca Tarbotton in Mexico, at 39 years of age.

The last few chilly days have been making me think about comfort food, and the many delicious things my Mom always used to make.

This Friday the Yorkton Exhibition Association (YEA) will send representatives to Regina to meet with the provincial government in what might be looked at as a last ditch attempt to save standardbred racing in Saskatchewan.
