Welcome to Week XXVI of 'Fishing Parkland Shorelines'.

One thing history seems to prove time and again is that you can't legislate morality. Nowhere is this more pertinent than when it comes to alcohol consumption. Just consider the disastrous North American experiment known as prohibition.

There are times we look at the current economic upswing in Saskatchewan and see something which was created on the economies of oil and gas and mineral exploration and expansion.

Winter is just around the corner, and thoughts often turn to those projects that require more time and attention than is available in the summer. Perhaps one of these projects is beginning research on your family tree.

This school year, the Yorkton Regional High School's SRC is making changes for the better. One of the changes includes submitting columns to Yorkton This Week. This will inform the community of the projects the SRC is doing.

The Saskatchewan Government is toying with the idea of lowering the legal drinking limit from 19 to 18 years of age. Those of us with high morals shudder at such a suggestion.

I've always been more interested in organisms that can move on their own than in stationary plants. But when I canoe or hike along the edge of lakes or oceans and see trees that seem to be growing out of rock faces, I am blown away.

Those who keep saying we are all the same in Saskatchewan conveniently ignore the reality that rural and urban folks do think differently.
