Outlook Ice Hawks give out player awards

Players were recognized for their efforts with the championship-winning Outlook squad.

OUTLOOK - The Outlook Ice Hawks may have left the ice weeks ago for another season of senior hockey, but the team officially wrapped their year up on Saturday, April 22 by hosting a supper and player awards night at the Reel Theatre.

Catered by Chris's Kitchen, after everyone enjoyed a roast beef meal, Robert Solnicka and Ryan Husband, who took team leadership roles this past season, addressed everyone before handing out the player awards for this year.

This year's Rookies of the Year were Carter Edgar, Grady Schultz, Kolby Gibson, and Reed McLachlan. Husband and Solnicka credited these young players for being fast learners and they look forward to seeing where they go in their time on the ice.

The awards for Most Dedicated Player and Best Defensive Forward went to Rin Benny, while the awards for Most Gentlemanly and Top Scorer went to Jake Spak.
The Most Improved Player award went to Mitch Brenner, while the Top Defenseman award went to Dylan Clark.

The Fan Favorite award went to a seasoned veteran of the team, Steven Lee. Finally, the team's MVP Award went to Luke Nukwama.

Proud of the skills seen both on and off the ice by the players, Husband and Solnicka looked forward to next season, as they said it would be something of a rebuilding year. Hockey fans will surely be there to see it all go down, cheering just as loud as they ever do for the Ice Hawks.

This past year's Ice Hawks team was comprised of Luke Nukwama, Jake Spak, Rin Benny, Dylan Thackeray, Ryan Husband, Steven Lee, Alec Neiman, Dylan Clark, Billy Trarback, Robert Solnicka, Mitch Brenner, Kolby Gibson, Logan Stephenson, Carter Edgar, Cody Thompson, Connor Clark, Nick Eliason, Jordan Cherney, Brandon Schrader, Blake Taylor, Reed McLachlan, and Beau Stewart.
