OUTLOOK - The 2023 Better Newspapers Competition, held every spring by the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association (SWNA), was held on Friday afternoon, May 12 by Zoom.

The Outlook's Derek Ruttle took top honors in the award for Best Photo Essay of the Year, with his collection of images highlighting last summer's Riverbank Rodeo in Outlook winning 1st Place. Ruttle's name popped up twice in the same award category, and he also took 2nd Place for his photos from last year's Prairie Festival.
Ruttle also won 3rd Place for Best Saskatchewan Recreational Story for his feature on the Outlook rink being named the 'most haunted' location in the province, according to a team of visiting ghost hunters.

As well, general manager Delwyn Luedtke won 2nd Place for Best Page Design, and writer/columnist Shelley Luedtke won 3rd Place for Columnist of the Year for her weekly feature, 'My Outlook', and won 3rd Place for Best Saskatchewan Arts or Cultural Story for a feature on Outlook's Equinox Theatre group.

The Outlook newspaper itself won 3rd Place for Best Front Page.

The staff of The Outlook thank the judges and congratulate newspapers around the province on this year's awards!
