STURGIS - The families of the late Riley Zubko (Clint and Mona Zubko) and Chad Babiuk, (Bernadette Babiuk and the late Mark Babiuk) both of Sturgis paid tribute with acknowledgement of the 10th anniversary of their children passing with erecting two iron wrought benches in their memory.

The benches, placed in the Sturgis Regional Park, have each of their names etched on a plaque placed on the front. The benches face the river and the bridge in a tranquil quiet area of the park.

“We always wanted to do something in memory of them,” said Mona Zubko, mom. “The years passed by and we decided the river was the best place because the boys spent a lot of time down there hanging out and fishing. When we approached the town about what we wanted to do they were very happy to lend a hand to make it a reality,” she said.

The benches chosen had a wildlife theme as both boys loved animals and wildlife.
