Children and adults alike enjoyed skating alongside Santa Claus in the Skate with Santa event in Preeceville on December 7. “It was a great time for everyone,” said Andrea Tonn, recreation co-ordinator.

Ollie Maksymiw of Preeceville said a tearful goodbye to her Ukrainian relatives while in Ternopil, Ukraine from October 2 to 20. "The trip was bittersweet as this will likely be the last time that I will be making the trip there,” said Maksymiw.

The annual festival of trees encouraged individuals to take the time to appreciate what’s special during the busy Christmas season, said Amanda Balyski, organizer.

There are some traditions of the holiday season that begin as soon as December rolls around.

The Preeceville Pats peewee hockey team spilt a pair of home games. The first was a loss to Langenburg on December 1 with a final core of 6 to 5. Scoring for Preeceville were: Bryker Smith (three goals), Mason Babiuk and Avery Franklin.

The Sturgis Composite School junior boys and girls co-hosted a four team basketball tournament on December 1. Teams entered were: Sturgis, Hudson Bay, Norquay and Yorkdale. In the boys division, Yorkdale won first place and Sturgis placed second.

Preeceville School students from Grades 6 to 9 gathered in the school library to acknowledge the various winners of the Royal Canadian Legion 188 Remembrance Day poster contest on November 16.

The Preeceville Hospital auxiliary Christmas auction was deemed another success by organizers.

It was November 10, the day before Remembrance Day, and I turned on the TV to History . On the big screen appeared an episode of Forged in Fire . Surely, this is a mistake, I thought. Maybe it’s just one episode. Nope. It was a marathon.

Marjorie Blackburn of Sylvan Lake, Alta., representative for In Touch Ministries, collected the blankets and quilts that were sewn by the Klothes for Kids project in Sturgis on November 21.
