Preeceville Progress

The Preeceville Legion hosted a re-organization meeting on October 15 with 20 current members. The meeting was held at the Preeceville Community Legion Hall with COVID-19 guidelines applied.

The Town of Preeceville council approved the minutes from the September meeting that was held September 16. A regular council meeting was held October 14 at council chambers at the Town of Preeceville administration building.

Meagan Barabash of Martensville and originally of Preeceville was presented with a YWCA Saskatoon Women of Distinction Award on October 16. Barabash joined 14 other women in receiving this award in an online viewing presentation.

In the Town of Preeceville Mayor Garth Harris of Preeceville is being opposed by newcomer Ralph Ager for the Mayor position in the upcoming election on November 9.

The Sturgis Lacrosse organization recently formed an all girls team with the goal of creating more interest in the sport. "We were very surprised that we had a core of 25 girls aged nine to 18 years show up ready to play this summer.

The Preeceville canola fundraiser finished its harvest on October 7. The canola field was located approximately one mile west of Preeceville. The harvest was a large volunteer effort.

“We are please to announce the Town of Preeceville’s Wastewater Treatment Facility Project is complete,” said Lorelei Karcha, Town of Preeceville administrator.

Children and their parents are encouraged to participate in a free program focused on improving literacy through crafts, music and reading. The Drop in and Play program is hosted in Preeceville on Thursdays and Sturgis on Wednesdays.

On September 30 each year, thousands of people gather across Canada to remember the victims and survivors of residential schools as part of Orange Shirt Day.

Stella Holmes of Preeceville was the recipient of an unexpected surprise when she noticed her golden rod plant was a favourite resting spot for monarch butterflies last week.
