Great Plains Futsal League kicks off

The Great Plains Futsal League held their inaugural event Nov. 18 at the Gallagher Centre's Flexihall.

YORKTON – The weekend of Nov. 18–19 marked the inauguration of the Great Plains Futsal League with a tournament at the Flexihall.

Clubs from Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, and Swift Current participated in the inaugural event.

Yorkton United FC was well-represented, fielding five teams across six leagues: U18 boys and girls, U16 boys and girls, and U14 boys. 

Yorkton teams had a successful weekend, securing nine wins and suffering only four losses. Lea Mickle of the Yorkton United U16 girls team led all scorers with an impressive 11 goals over three games.

The event was a hit, attracting over 1,500 spectators throughout the weekend. Skill Centre teams also had their first competitive games of the season, with U8, U10, and U12 teams playing against Swift Current, Regina, Saskatoon, Humboldt, and Moose Jaw.
