Terriers best Hounds in Tuesday matchup

Will play host to Broncos on March 10 in last home ice game of the season.

YORKTON – The Yorkton Terriers played host to the Notre Dame Hounds on March 7 in the third-last game of their season.

Terrier Dylan Ruptash put the team on the board midway through the first at 12:26, but the lead was short-lived with Antoine Saint-Onge scoring one for the Hounds at 12:48.  A little over a minute later, at 13:56, Terrier Quintin Unreiner put the team back in the lead, with the assist coming from Pavel Mckenzie.

The Terriers took advantage of a power play effort midway through the first with Cohner Saleski hitting the target at 9:57.  The Hounds looked to make a comeback from their two goal deficit late in the second and had success with Cyprus Smith-Davis scoring at 15:11 and Dane Probe making use of a power play effort at 17:34.

The tie game was short lived for the Hounds, with Terrier Clay Sleeva scoring on the power play at 6:07 of the third followed by another successful power play effort from the Terriers at 7:09 with a goal from Ashton Funk.  The Hounds' Carson Baylis put another on the board at 19:38 of the period, but the Terriers shut down the Hounds attempts to tie the match up, resulting in a 5-4 win.

Blake Sittler was in net for the win, blocking 28 of the 32 shots.

Tucker Inabinet was in net for the Hounds, taking on 21 shots and blocking 16.

The Terriers will host the Humboldt Broncos on March 10 in their last game on home ice this season and will visit Humboldt to take on the Broncos March 11 in the last game of the season.
