Yorkton This Week

The best games, or perhaps these days, like movies, almost all games, end up with expansions. That is actually a very good thing.

If you want to have some fun and get some food, the Yorkton Airport is the place to be, as Miccar Aerial is hosting a family barbecue.

The Friday Night Lights game sets the tone for the YRHS Raider Gridders. Playing under the lights to the enthusiastic home crowd, it’s a chance for the team to give it their all and show what they’re capable of at the start of the season.

Mark this date down! The Yorkton and District Horticultural Society will be holding their Fall Plant and Bulb Sale on Friday, September 20 from 9:30 a.m. till 5 p.m. (or while plants last) at the Parkland Mall, Yorkton.

There is an empty storefront at the Parkland Mall. Inside are bare shelves and a couple of empty bins. The hope is that by Sept. 29, the entire space will be full of food to send to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Over the summer it was great to watch the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois as they played their first season in National Pro Fastpitch. The team was essentially the Canadian team preparing through the pro league to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

Brett Wilson was back in his hometown North Battleford on Wednesday, sharing news with Battlefords Chamber of Commerce members and business leaders of his initiatives and efforts in the Battlefords.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yorkton and Area are hosting a barbecue outside of Hairisma. A place to stop for lunch, they are also offering tickets on their quad draw at the same time.

On the night of Tuesday September 3, 2019 or the early morning of Wednesday September 4, 2019, 4 Good Year 20" P275/60R20 tires and rims were stolen off of a vehicle in the 200 block of Hamilton Road in Yorkton.
