Yorkton This Week

The Yorkton Cardinals had a busy opening week in Western Major Baseball League action. They have played four games at the time of print, but hold a 0-4 record.

Evelyn Jane Unyi passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in Yorkton, SK. She was 81 years of age. Evelyn was born on the family farm near Saltcoats, SK on October 22, 1935 to John and Lillian Solomon.

A beautiful woman was born on February 12, 1927, the daughter of Nick and Anne (nee Dennis) Witzko - her name, Olga. She was born on the family farm near Canora, SK.

Helen "Nellie". 1920 -2017. Helen Geddes Groff, known to family and friends as "Nellie", passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK. She was 97 years of age.

The family of Mary Raddysh sadly announces her passing at the Yorkton Nursing Home on May 24, 2017. Mary was born on her family farm near Insinger, SK on January 22, 1930.

Lois was born February 21, 1953 at the Spalding Hospital to Reigh and Anne (nee Kaminsky) Long. She grew up on the family farm near Naicam with her younger brother, Jerry.

Last week, in part one of this farewell to Saskatchewan column, I said my impending move to Labrador promises to be a rare and wonderful adventure, but is not without mixed feelings and trepidation. Inevitably, beginnings are also endings.
