Yorkton This Week

Yorkton is a frequent stop on any Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE) tour. And last week while they were here on their 8th anniversary tour, it was no different.

There were 170 taekwondo competitors who filled the Nexera Flexihall at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton on Saturday. It was the 19th annual Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge.

Yorkton was well represented in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in February. Brad Heskin and Jaxon Boyda were big contributors on their teams, while Jason Boyda coach the U14 team.

It’s finally golfing season again. York Lake Golf & Country Club opened on April 20 for the season. Since that weekend was on the chilly side, some golfers held off until the sun was out and the temperatures were up. Such is the case for Randy P.

The National Day of Mourning remembers all of the people across the country who were killed at work. This year, in Saskatchewan, 31 people lost their lives due to workplace injuries.

The user groups of the Anne Portnuff theatre are working hard to replace the seats in the theatre as part of the Anne Portnuff Theatre revitalization campaign.

It’s the 20th anniversary of Brayden Ottenbreit’s Close Cuts for Cancer, and the annual head shaving event had its official kickoff on April 28. The 2017 event, taking place on May 27 at 10:00 a.m.

The week of May 7-13 has been proclaimed Pride Week in Yorkton.
