The Yorkton Public Library is open at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday. --- Yorkton’s local community theatre group, Paper Bag Players is hosting an 80’s themed Ladies Night event on May 13 at the Painted Hand Casino.

Dear Editor: Over the years, Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) has drawn attention to the chronic understaffing of specialized health care professionals. Saskatchewan’s economic boom did not end understaffing.

A Court of Queen’s Bench decision on a local lawsuit could have far-reaching implications for public education in Saskatchewan, and possibly across the country.

Yorkton Council passed the City’s 2017 budget at its regular meeting Monday, and property taxes are going up. But, to be fair local Council is not to be blamed for the majority of the increase.

Yorkton Council has passed its 2017 budget, and taxpayers will see a major hike, most of it the result of measures taken in the recent provincial budget.

Michael Bidnock, age 95, of Dartmouth, formerly of Yorkton, SK, passed away peacefully in Camp Hill Veterans Hospital in Halifax on Monday, April 10, 2017 surrounded by this family. Mike was born March 20, 1922 in Estevan, SK.

Nellie Bilokreli (Demkiw). The family of Nellie Bilokreli sadly announce her peaceful passing on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Saskatoon just shy of her 93rd birthday.

Margaret H. Mazier. A funeral service for the late Margaret H. Mazier, formerly of Yorkton, will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the new Sneath Strilchuk Family Care Centre, formerly known as the Evergreen Riverside Chapel.

Mrs. Sheila Desroches of Yorkton, beloved wife of Tom Desroches, passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 81 on April 9, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
