Springside did not let a little sporadic rain dampen its Family Day June 25. Activities included pickup softball, a barbecue, musical entertainment, bouncy castles and more.

The Parkland Minor Baseball League hosted a baseball clinic for all mosquito aged baseball players from the Parkland League. The Clinic was conducted by the Western Major Baseball League Yorkton Cardinals.

Yorkton United Football Club hosted a community soccer event June 25 at Sacred Heart High School for U8 and U11 teams. The popularity of soccer in Yorkton parallels the growth of the sport nationwide. Soccer now surpasses even hockey in enrollment.

There was an old fashioned country fair atmosphere at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home last week, including vintage cars. live entertainment and pony rides for young visitors.

Access to physician services continues to improve for people all across Saskatchewan.

Residents of Preeceville and area will soon benefit from additional physician services in the community. A newly recruited physician will move to Preeceville to join the primary health care team on October 1, 2016.

In February 2015, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada officially opened Dream Land, “A Family Play Place” in Yorkton on Myrtle Avenue. On Friday, it wrapped up its third session with a barbecue, bouncy castles and plenty of family activities.

The City of Yorkton’s Parks & Recreation Department hosted a Park Party last Wednesday at Knights of Columbus Park on Circlebrooke Drive.
