The Yorkton Film Festival appeared before the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday to fulfill their sponsorship package with the City. “I am pleased to inform you that the 69th Yorkton Film Festival was a great success,” said Keith Hayward.

The Yorkton Public Library is getting a new microfilm reader. And it is being paid for out of recently discovered funds.

Yorkton Council unanimously approved its 2016 Asphalt Paving Program tender at its regular meeting Monday. The City of Yorkton has numerous roadways that require asphalt replacement.

A new commercial education facility in the City needed Council approval Monday for a plan to meet parking requirements. The facility at 253 Myrtle Avenue required a minimum of five on-site parking spaces.

The Society for the Involvement of good Neighbors Inc. (SIGN) was looking to the City of Yorkton for funds to offset losses in its Senior Mobility Program.

It was a ninth inning meltdown for the Yorkton Cardinals. Medicine Hat were at Jubilee Park for Western Major Baseball League action, and the hometown Cardinals seemed on their way to victory.

The 11th annual Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic, held Friday at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton, raised an estimated $21,500 for the Parkland College scholarship fund.

Iris Schick, beloved wife of the late Adolph Schick of Yorkton, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Yorkton District Nursing Home. She was 89 years of age.
