Yorkton This Week

Last week we had a bit of a scare. I brushed up against our spruce tree, and suddenly seemed to be covered by a fine, yellow dust. What was it? We hadn't seen that before, and studied our tree carefully.

Parkland College is hoping to bring workshops to help businesses streamline their operations to Yorkton this fall. To test out the community's level of interest, local business owners were invited to a one day introduction to Lean Principles.

The City of Yorkton has found an alternative source of borrowing for its new fire hall which will save more than one million in interest charges.

Theft of quad Yorkton Rural RCMP report that during the daylight hours on Wednesday, May 26th, a black Polaris Quad model 800 was taken from 508 Taylor Avenue in Springside Saskatchewan. The value of this Quad is approximately $5800.00.

The Gallagher Centre was filled with youth in motion on Sunday as they filled the curling rink with skateboards.The Skateboard Freedom Tour is hosted by Yorkton's B3 Xtreme skateboard shop. This is the second year T.C.

The Yorkton Regional High School track team had another strong showing at the 2010 provincial track meet held recently in Moose Jaw.

The mayors of Saskatchewan cities met recently to discuss common issues, and Yorkton Mayor James Wilson said they had an opportunity to take those concerns to federal ears.

Saskatchewan patients can now easily find information about surgeons practising in the province, procedures they perform and their wait times.

The Kinsmen PeeWee Yorkton Minor Football League season gets underway this week with four teams each playing twice on Wednesday. The Stampeders play the Lions and the Bombers play the Ti-Cats. Both games are at 4:30 p.m.

The Yorkton grandstand was packed for two days over the weekend. The event was put on by the Yorkton Exhibition Association. Wagon racers from all over Saskatchewan and some from Alberta met in Yorkton for a series race.
