The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 30 to June 5, 2021, Mining Week. The theme is “Saskatchewan’s Critical Minerals Essential to Global Supply Chains,” which ​provides an opportunity to showcase Saskatchewan’s world-class mining sector.

Rodeo committees across Saskatchewan and Manitoba are hoping to host events this year. In Moosomin, members of the Moosomin Rodeo Committee are making plans for a Bulls and Broncs event in place of the full rodeo in July.

After being installed in March, the SaveStation located just outside Moosomin Town Hall saw its first use last week. SaveStations are a uniform holding unit for automated external defibrillators (AED).

Since the late 1960’s the New Horizons Seniors Centre has provided seniors from the Yorkton area and across Western Canada with activities for their entertainment.

Some Saskatchewan rodeos are hoping to see riders return to the saddles and fans fill the stands, however, there is still concern about limited group sizes.

The Spy Hill Sports Days and rodeo has been put on hold for the 2021 season. Jeff Odgers, president of the Spy Hill Community Club that helps organize the Spy Hill Sports Days, says the club is waiting for COVID-19 restrictions to lift.

SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) Department of Drama—the oldest drama department in Canada and the Commonwealth—is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a series of virtual events beginning June 1, 2021.

On Friday, May 28, a 65-year-old male and a 73-year-old male travelled to the Porcupine Forest north of Kamsack. At 9:42 p.m.

On May 30, at approximately 1:58 a.m., Kamsack RCMP were responding to a call when they came across a damaged motor vehicle in the ditch beside Highway #8, north of Kamsack. The vehicle appeared to have rolled several times.

The Southeast Senior Baseball League is about to kick-off its 2021 season, albeit with a shortened schedule and fewer teams. “We’re going to give it a go,” said Mark Jacobs with the Parkland Pirates, one of four teams in the league this summer.
