Candle Lake man faces firearms-related offences after assault

At the man’s home police seized 23 firearms, a crossbow, and approximately 100,000 rounds of ammunition.

On Aug. 10, Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a firearm outside of a home in Candle Lake. When police arrived, the suspect was still at the scene and arrested.

CANDLE LAKE – A 50-year-old Candle Lake man has been charged with nine firearms weapons-related charges, attempting to disarm a police officer, and assaulting a police officer.

On Aug. 10, Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a firearm outside of a home in Candle Lake. When police arrived, the suspect was still at the scene and arrested.

Five days later, police executed a search warrant at the man’s home and seized 23 firearms, a crossbow, and approximately 100,000 rounds of ammunition.

He appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court Monday.
