PRINCE ALBERT — Prince Albert police say one man is facing charges in relation to two arsons on Thursday and a third arson incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 9:20 a.m. on Aug. 28, police say, they were called to a business in the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue West for the report of a male lighting the wheel of a vehicle on fire.
Nearly an hour and a half later, police say, they responded to a report of a male lighting something on fire inside a business the 200 block of 15th Street West. The Prince Albert Fire Department attended the scene and put out the fire. This incident is still under investigation, say police.
Shortly after, at around 11:30 a.m., police were called to the 2500 block of 2nd Avenue West for a report of a mischief in progress. Police say there they learned a male had started a rag on fire inside the business before leaving, and that the fire had been extinguished by staff.
Police say the suspect description for two of the arsons matched, and officers shortly after located a male matching the description at a business in the 2900 block of 2nd Avenue West. where he was arrested without further incident, police say, and a search of his person found a lighter.
As a result, the 50-year-old man has been charged with arson to property, break and enter, and arson disregard for life.
