SASKATOON – Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for four people charged in connection to 22-year-old Cody Tait’s murder.

Robbie Cameron, 29, and Dana Morningchild, 31, both from Saskatoon, as well as Precious Gamble, 25, from Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation, and Scotty Jimmy, 21, from North Battleford, have preliminary hearings tentatively scheduled for August and September. The hearings will determine if there is enough evidence for them to stand trial on second-degree murder charges. Case management will be held for them in July.

A fifth accused pleaded guilty to manslaughter in March and was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. There is a ban on publication.

Tait was murdered March 27, 2022. Rosthern RCMP had received a call that day about a shooting on Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation and found Tait injured on a road in the community. Despite life-saving efforts he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
