Lloydminster teen dies after vehicle hits deer, collides with another vehicle

An SUV struck a deer, then collided with a car, say police.

ONION LAKE – A 16-year-old boy from Lloydminster has died after a collision on Highway 17 south of Onion Lake Tuesday.

Maidstone RCMP received a report of a collision at about 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 3. They say their initial investigation has determined that an SUV struck a deer, then collided with a car. A male youth passenger in the car was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 16-year-old from Lloydminster. His family has been notified.

 The driver and passenger in the SUV, as well as the driver and two additional passengers in the car were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Maidstone RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
