Man fined $34K for unstamped tobacco

SASKATOON – A 31-year-old man was ticketed $34,487 for having un-stamped tobacco.

Saskatoon Police Service patrol officers charged him after they had observed a grey SUV make a sudden and illegal turn across a solid yellow line in the 1400 block of Central Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. on June 4.

Police stopped the SUV in a nearby parking lot and when they were speaking to the driver, they saw numerous packages of large quantities of un-stamped tobacco products hidden beneath blankets. Police seized just over 58,000 cigarettes.

The man was also issued a traffic ticket.
