Police say that at approximately 12:15 p.m., on March 27, they were called to the area of 20th Street West and Avenue Q South after a citizen spotted a vehicle travelling in the neighbourhood, which they knew to be stolen. Responding officers located the vehicle parked in a nearby alley with two people matching the suspect descriptions walking away from it.

When they saw police, the woman surrendered without incident but the man attempted to flee and a police service dog helped catch him as he fled. The man received an injury consistent with a dog bite and was transported to hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury.
