NIPAWIN – Update Aug. 2:  Police have arrested 29-year-old Denisha Bear of Nipawin in connection to the shooting on July 26.

Bear has been charged with attempted murder, uttering threats, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, having destroyed a firearm failed to report the destruction to a peace officer, firearms officer or chief firearm’s officer, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

On Aug. 1, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert General Investigation Section, with assistance from Nipawin RCMP, arrested Bear after executing a warrant in relation to a March 8 assault. After further investigation, Bear was charged in connection to the July 26 shooting.

RCMP say the victim of the shooting remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Bear is scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court Aug. 2.

Update July 31: Nipawin RCMP is renewing its request to the public for help with their ongoing investigation into a shooting in Nipawin on July 26.

At about 12:30 a.m., Nipawin RCMP had received a report that a 44-year-old man was injured as a result of a shooting at the home in the 600 block of 8th Avenue West in Nipawin.

RCMP asks the public to check any personal home video surveillance and door cameras for footage on or near the 600 block of 8th Ave. West from 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, to 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26. And report any suspicious activity, people or vehicles on or near the 600 block of 8th Avenue West.

Police also ask residents to report any tips or information to the nearest police service or RCMP Detachment by calling 310-RCMP or 911 in an emergency.

Original story: A man was shot and police are asking people to check their personal home video surveillance and door cameras for footage of any suspicious activity, people, or vehicles in the area.

Nipawin RCMP ask that people look for footage between 11 p.m. on July 25 and 1:30 a.m. on July 26 on or near the 600 block of 8th Avenue in Nipawin.

RCMP say that at about 12:30 a.m. on July 26, they responded to a report of a 44-year-old man who was injured as a result of a shooting inside a residence on the 600 block of 8th Avenue in Nipawin. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital. RCMP say they won’t identify him at this time.

The initial police investigation has determined that unknown people entered the home and a shooting occurred. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction and it’s unknown if they had access to a vehicle.

At this time there is no elevated risk to public safety in relation to this investigation, say RCMP. If this changes, they will notify the public. Nipawin RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes and Tisdale RCMP Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
