LA LOCHE — A preliminary hearing has been adjourned to October in La Loche Circuit Court for 42-year-old Melissa Laprise on a second-degree murder charge. Laprise is accused of killing 49-year-old Ryan Ken Piche from Clearwater River Dene Nation.
On May 28, 2022, at about 1:10 a.m. La Loche RCMP got a call that a badly injured Piche was being taken to hospital in someone’s vehicle. Police and EMS responded right away and found Piche in a vehicle on Garson Lake Road. He was pronounced deceased by EMS.
La Loche RCMP say that an altercation had occurred at a home in Garson Lake.
