Sandy Bay RCMP seize firearms, machete, drugs, and make arrests

Officers located and seized approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine, numerous firearms, ammunition, weapons including a machete, a sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

SANDY BAY – Four people were arrested after Sandy Bay RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Sandy Bay on Sept. 28 as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Officers located and seized approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine, numerous firearms, ammunition, weapons including a machete, a sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Peter Merasty, 47, Norreen Bear, 47, Gene Merasty, 25, and Sonny Merasty, 20, all from Sandy Bay, face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unlawful storage of firearm or ammunition. Gene Merasty is also charged with two counts, fail to comply with release order condition.

The four appear in Sandy Bay Circuit Court on Oct. 5.
