Sask. woman charged with second-degree murder after assault victim dies

MEADOW LAKE – A 35-year-old woman from Big Island Cree Territory has been charged with second-degree murder after a man she is accused of assaulting died.

Doreen Evelyn Oseemeemow was initially charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a man was taken to hospital in serious condition. Those charges have been withdrawn and replaced with the murder charge.

The assault happened on Jan. 2 and the man died on Jan. 18.

Oseemeemow appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Feb. 13.
