Pedestrian killed on Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation

The pedestrian was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. An 18-year-old has been arrested.

BEARDY'S AND OKEMASIS' CREE NATION — On July 14 at approximately 10:50 p.m., Rosthern RCMP responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.

The pedestrian was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 62-year-old male from Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation. His family has been notified.

On July 15 at approximately 1:10 a.m., the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested at a nearby residence and is charged with:

  • operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death;
  • failure to stop after accident resulting in death; and
  • dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.

Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
