SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police Service Economic Crime Section say they have arrested Alexander Alexidze a known affiliate of a Russian organized crime group for fraud- and identity-related offences.

On March 10, the Saskatoon Police Service became aware of a man wanted on warrants and suspected of fraud by several authorities in Canada and the United States to be living in Saskatoon under one of many assumed identities. The police investigation led police to an address in the 400 block of Pendygrasse Road on May 14 where Alexidze was arrested without incident. A search warrant was then executed at the home and police seized multiple false and forged documents.

The 48-year-old Georgian national is charged with procurement of false identity documents, possession of credit cards obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of citizenship documents for a fraudulent purpose, fraud over $5,000, and use of forged documents. Additional charges are expected as investigations in several jurisdictions continue.
