Thunderchild First Nation man arrested after serious assault

NORTH BATTLEFORD – A 29-year-old man from Thunderchild First Nation has been arrested after a serious assault outside of a business on 99 Street in North Battleford.

Donnie Okanee is charged with aggravated assault and appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 13.

RCMP had responded at about 12:40 a.m. early Saturday morning. Their investigation determined there was an altercation between two men. One of them assaulted the other, who was transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

Okanee fled from the scene in a vehicle but officers located the vehicle soon after and arrested him.
