Traffic stop nets Regina man arrest, 16 criminal charges

Accused was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.

REGINA – What began as a simple traffic stop yesterday morning a list of 16 charges for a Regina man.

Just before 11 a.m. on May 2, police stopped a vehicle on Campbell Street. The driver - a 17-year-old male - did not have a valid driver's license.

"As the driver got out of the vehicle, police observed weapons and a substance believed to be methamphetamine in the vehicle and the driver was arrested, as well as the other three occupants of the vehicle," said RPS in a media release.

One of those passengers was also identified as being in breach of probation conditions, and while searching the vehicle, the 31-year-old's charges only lengthened.

"A search yielded a loaded firearm, and additional ammunition, putting the male in breach of firearms prohibition orders," RPS said. "The male was arrested and charged."

Dysan D'Shaun Miller was charged with six counts possession of a firearm; two counts each possession of a prohibited weapon; and single counts careless transportation of a firearm, carry concealed weapon, possession of an unauthorized firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, tampering with a serial number of a firearm, assault with a weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order.

Miller appeared in Regina Provincial Court on May 3, the Crown was opposed to his release and he is remanded until May 8 for his next court appearance. The Crown also sought a no-contact order with a named individual.
