Two Saskatoon police officers assaulted this week in separate incidents

In one incident, a man was being processed to be put into the cells at the Saskatoon Police Service building.

A  31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

SASKATOON - A Saskatoon police officer was assaulted while processing a man in detention Tuesday. Saskatoon Police Service say the suspect aggressively advanced towards and intentionally struck a Constable in the face causing minor injury.

SPS arrested the man on Oct. 3, after they were called to the 3300 block of 33rd Street West by paramedics who were attempting to medically assess an uncooperative man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. He was arrested for public intoxication and taken to police cells.

A  31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

Another police officer was assaulted on Oct. 2 when patrol officers responded to a suspicious person call near the intersection of Salisbury Place and Salisbury Drive. When they arrived, a 36-year-old man was located and was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant.

While attempting to arrest him, an officer was assaulted with an intentional strike to the face. Following a brief struggle with officers, the man was taken into custody. He has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
