Youth arrested for bringing gun on city bus

Police initiated a "high-risk vehicle stop," passengers exited safely.

REGINA –  There were some tense moments on a city bus this week after police received a report of a rider carrying a gun.

"Police performed a high-risk vehicle stop on the bus on University Drive, and the passengers exited safely," RPS said of the March 23 incident. "The male was arrested without incident. A firearm was not located, and the male was subsequently charged."

The suspect was a 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and was charged with public mischief.

He is slated to make a first appearance on this charge on May 9.
