Merlyn Hodgson 67, will spend the next 36 months in a federal penitentiary, must provide a DNA sample and is prohibited for life from owning or possessing firearms or weapons. 

The assault occurred in the maximum-security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary on Thursday.

The suspected theft of fuel was reported to the RCMP and charges have been laid.

Canora/Sturgis RCMP also dealt with a highway truck fire, a leaf dumping dispute, an assault, and an attempted liquor theft.

Saskatoon police have released an image of a suspect in the hopes the public can help identify him.

Tristan Whitstone may be armed and is considered dangerous. He also faces charges of intimidation of a justice system participant and forcible confinement.

RCMP investigation has determined that Tristan Antonio Provinciano might be in possession of a firearm and he is not to be approached.
