Cupcakes and history mark 75 years of the WDM

Public invited to celebrate April 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Western Development Museums across Saskatchewan are enticing visitors to their 75th anniversary celebration with a special 75-cent entry fee.

SASKATCHEWAN — The WDM turns 75 on April 2 and as the organization marks its years of sharing Saskatchewan stories and memories, residents are invited to join anniversary celebrations Tuesday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission will be 75 cents all day. Each WDM location will have 75th anniversary-themed seek and finds, WDM history video and more. Cupcakes will be served at 2 p.m.

The Western Development Museum (WDM) was established on April 2, 1949, when the Government of Saskatchewan passed the Western Development Museum Act. The WDM’s mandate is to collect, preserve, and exhibit objects of historical value and importance connected with the economic and cultural development of Western Canada and to stimulate interest in Western Canadian history

“For 75 years, the WDM has been connecting people with Saskatchewan’s rich heritage,” says Orlanda Drebit, chair of the WDM Board of Directors.

“Come explore all the WDM has to offer as we look to the past and plan for the future.”
