HAY RIVER, N.W.T. — The Canadian Table Tennis Championships scheduled for Sept. 22-24 in Hay River, N.W.T., have been cancelled due to the ongoing wildfire situation in the territory, Table Tennis North announced.

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Justice says an inmate had died at a notorious, Victorian-era jail for male prisoners in St. John's. A spokesperson says in an email the department was notified of the death Tuesday night.
