Principal Larry Lesiuk says it's been “over ten years” since Kipling hosted the Qu'Appelle Valley District Association District Curling Championships. “But this year, we are hosting the Boys and Mixed Events on Friday, February 10th. The Girls teams will also be curling that day, but they will be in Lemberg.”
Larry explains that the District Championships are “Step One” for teams hoping to progress to the Provincial Finals.
“Winners at the District level go on to compete at the Regional Championship being held in Estevan on March 3rd - 4th. From there, winners will go on to compete at Provincials on March 10th – 11th.”
There will be 7 teams curling in Kipling on Friday - three Mixed Teams and four Boys Teams. Larry notes that “There will be one team from Kipling School competing in the Boys Event. We also have a team competing in the Girls Event in Lemberg.”
Curling will begin at 10 am and last throughout the day. The public is welcome to come and enjoy the action...there is no admission charge...and the canteen will be open. Both the Boys and Mixed curling will take place simultaneously. So, as Larry says,
“Come on down on Friday...and you will get to see it all!”
