An excited group of young skaters took to the ice in Kipling last Sunday. They were determined to put forward their best performance for the crowd of family and friends that had come out to watch the 'Oh Canada!î Ice Carnival. Kipling Skating Club has 21 members and are coached by Susan Henry.
The afternoon began with a tribute to this country that included all of the skaters. This was followed by an enthusiastic group performance by the 'Pre Star Skaters': Layla Walker, Sasha Walker, Cayden Bowley, Nevaeh Armstrong, Hazel Batters and Bailey White. The program also featured several very enjoyable duet performances and sparkling solo presentations from these young ladies. Each one of these skaters offered up their best effort...which earned them appreciative applause from their audience.
Canskaters: Brooke White, Emily Armstrong, Thomas Caswell, Leland Daku, Emerson Batters and Jace Caouette haven't been skating all that long. But, they were more than pleased to show their guests all of the skills they have learned with two group performances that were a joy to watch.
Judging by the performances given by Canpower skaters: Colton Armstrong, Holdyn Bowley, Tommy Crawford, Samuel Crawford, Aiden Meszaros, Gunner Gall, Peyton White, Ronnie Szilagyi and Cayden Hoffman...the future of hockey in this community is bright. The group gave two high-energy demonstration of the skills that they are working to master...much to the delight of the crowd.
Guest skaters: Brooke Widdup and Mackenzie Valentine each stepped forward to offer lovely, polished performances that captivated the audience and served as examples of what many hours of determination and hard work can yield.
Undoubtedly, the young skaters that took part in the 'Oh Canada' Ice Carnival are well able to follow this example. What they might have lacked in experience, each one of the young skaters on the ice more than made up for with their determination and excitement.
A hearty congratulations to each of them. Good job!
