We brought some extra kids out here this weekend to see what they could do and a lot of the kids stepped up into important roles for the tournament.

The Yorkton Terriers’ start to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season was not what fans would have hoped for. The Terriers started in Weyburn Friday, dropping a 6-4 decision to the host Red Wings.

It’s only preseason, but the Yorkton Terriers went 4-0 through the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League warm-up. The wins are nice, but Terrier head coach Trent Cassan said the process of evaluating talent far outweighs the wins and losses in preseason.

Former Yorkton Mauler (Harvest) Bud Holloway is getting a shot with the Montreal Canadiens organization. “It was my first year off of my contract with L.A., so I wanted to give North America another shot,” said Holloway, who is from Wapella, SK.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers dropped a preseason game to the Regina Pat Canadians 6-2 this past Sunday. Scoring for the Maulers was Brett Kemp and Keenan Taphorn, with assists going to Taylor Elmy and Keanan Sperling.

The Yorkton Terriers held their annual Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League camp over the weekend. “It’s been a busy weekend,” said Terrier general manager and head coach Trent Cassan prior to the White & Orange game Sunday.
