Two men who were pursued by Saskatchewan and Alberta RCMP after allegedly shooting a man on Onion Lake Cree Nation remain in custody.

Ames Leslie is back for a second term as mayor of Battleford. Nominations closed for the municipal election at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and at the deadline Leslie was the lone candidate who had filed papers to run for mayor at Town Hall.

UPDATE: The Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crime Section have charged a 30-year-old Saskatoon male with second-degree murder in connection with the Oct. 4 death of 22-year-old Brandon Applegate. On Oct. 4, at approximately 7:20 a.m.

The 4 p.m. nomination filing deadline has come and gone and several seats on the Living Sky School Division board will once again be filled by acclamation.

It was a highly unusual Beef on a Bun fundraiser event in 2020 for North Battleford Fire Department. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there was no opportunity for local residents to line up and sit inside the fire hall to eat during the noon hour.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared a multi-jurisdictional community transmitted outbreak. Dr. Khami Chokani, Medical Health Officer, officially declared the outbreak on Oct. 7.

There are 10 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on October 7, bringing the total to 1,994 reported cases. The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (4), Central West (1), Central East (1), Regina (3) and South East (1) zones.
