Cities, including Meadow Lake, and their local RCMP detachments have finalized their multi-year financial plans for the upcoming five-year span of municipal policing.

As of Thursday’s weekly COVID-19 report, there are 24 active cases among children and youth of Saskatchewan. None of these are in the North or Far North zones. Thirteen of the cases are in the Saskatoon zone and five are in the Regina zone.

Regina – On Sept. 23, NDP Leader Ryan Meili targeted political party finance reform in the run-up to this fall’s election. Meili spoke of “the need to get big money out of Saskatchewan politics.

An Onion Lake man made his first court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court Sept. 22 on second-degree murder charges. Vega Bear, 24, is charged in connection to the death of Braden Richard Bull of Little Pine First Nation.

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on September 24, bringing the total to 1,835 reported cases. The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (2), Central West (1), Regina (1) and South Central (1) zones.

A Meadow Lake woman pleaded guilty to weapons offences, robbery, mischief and obstruction of a peace officer. Monica Bouvier, 24, is now scheduled to be sentenced in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 28.

A Pinehouse Lake man was sent to prison for 10 months on drug-related charges. Gregory Natomagan, 31, was sentenced in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 14. Natomagan was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A second scheduled preliminary hearing for a Sturgeon Lake man charged with manslaughter didn’t proceed. The first preliminary hearing for Ryan Kyle Daniels, 40, was scheduled for April 29-30 but was adjourned. The hearing was rescheduled to Sept.

A trial for a Meadow Lake man facing firearms related offences was rescheduled. The case against Lennex Merasty-Morin, 31, was brought before Meadow Lake Provincial Court Sept. 14. A trial was previously scheduled for Aug. 11 but didn’t proceed.
