As of May 6, 2020, Saskatchewan has 25 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 512. Twenty-four of the new cases are in the Far North with 22 of those being in La Loche, while the remaining one is in the Saskatoon region.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority presently have one confirmed COVID-19 case of a staff member at the Meadow Lake Hospital. This case at the hospital was linked to community-transmission. To date, no patients have presented with symptoms of COVID-19.

The Town of Battleford voted Monday in favour of donating a lot towards CJNB’s Radio Auction for $45,000. The open infill lot is located on 29th Street and is already serviced.

The two individuals who face several charges in connection to an April 28th shooting incident in North Battleford had their matters adjourned in their latest appearances this week.

A capital project slated for 35th Street in Battleford is proceeding to tender, but how much paving they can get done will depend on what bids they get back. The project is paving on 35th Street from 2nd Ave. to 24th St. in Battleford.

Battleford awarded the tender for its wastewater lagoon project at their town council meeting Monday, but the final cost was a bitter pill to swallow. The winning bid from Sanburn Construction Ltd.

A man who allegedly shot at his neighbour on Onion Lake Cree Nation remains in custody. Christopher Cook, 26, appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court via telephone May 4 and the matter was adjourned.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority’s phased resumption of health care services is targeted to begin on May 19, on the same day that Phase Two of Re-Open Saskatchewan is scheduled to roll out.
